The Itinerary
Your chauffeur-guide welcomes you at the airport and transfers you to Negombo or Colombo. The first day is kept light so you can rest before the journey begins.
You travel north into the Cultural Triangle, basing near Anuradhapura, the island’s great first ancient capital and a region rich in both heritage and birdlife around its ancient reservoirs.
Anuradhapura’s sacred city of dagobas and ancient tanks is easy to explore by vehicle with short walks, and the surrounding wetlands and woodland often hold good birdlife — an easy combination of culture and nature.
